Girls’ Education Empowerment Program
About this campaign
Girls here start secondary school at nearly the same rate as boys and finish it at less than half. Fees, exam costs and the pull of work at home account for almost all of the gap. Fewer than one in five girls in the district completes her final year.
The schools have places. The families want their daughters to stay. Eighty girls identified by their head teachers as most at risk of dropping out are waiting on this fund, and every one of them has a parent who has signed the commitment to keep her enrolled.
Your donation covers a full academic year for those eighty girls — fees, uniforms, books and exam costs — plus a trained mentor for every ten students, which is the part that keeps the numbers holding through the difficult second term.
