Walk for Awareness

Walk for Awareness

About This Event

Our annual walk raises awareness and funds for mental health support services — specifically the counselling line that took just over nine thousand calls last year and is funded almost entirely by this one morning.

The route is a gentle 4 km loop around Lakeside Park with no time pressure at all. People walk it in groups, in silence, in memory of someone, or simply because they wanted to be somewhere that understood. All of those are the right reason.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a registration fee?

No. Registration is free because cost should never be the reason someone stays away. Sponsorship and donations are welcome but entirely optional.

Yes. Memory cards are available at registration to carry or to tie to the remembrance rail near the finish, and the rail stays up for a week afterwards.

Fully. The whole loop is flat and paved, with accessible toilets at the start and at the halfway point.

The quiet tent by the start is staffed by trained listeners all morning, and you are welcome there at any point with no explanation needed. Stepping away is not giving up.
